Larian Studios has garnered plenty of acclaim for Baldur’s Gate 3, whether it’s becoming the second-biggest Steam launch of 2023 or ninth in all-time peak concurrent player counts. Critics have also praised the role-playing game (see our review here), but concerns have arisen regarding the credits. As it turns out, Altagram Group, who did the Brazilian Portuguese localization, didn’t credit its translators.
As @MittoVac pointed out, only the executives, including the CEO, COOs, Project Manager Team Leads, etc., were credited. @katrinaltrnsl8r also noted how other localization teams credited their members, except Altagram, while suspecting this was done without Larian’s knowledge.
It turned out to be correct, as a Larian Studios spokesperson told Eurogamer, “This was all Altagram group. We reached out and compelled them to fix this. As soon as we were made aware, we took steps with Altagram to remedy this immediately.” The credits will be included in Patch 1, so stay tuned for more details.
As for what’s next for the studio, CEO Swen Vincke has denied working on an expansion for Baldur’s Gate 3 (though it isn’t off the table). Larian is currently focused on the PS5 version, which launches on September 6th.
Congratulations to the heroes who translated @larianstudios' Baldur's Gate 3!
Sorry you couldn't get proper recognition, but ctrl+C/ctrl+V is still way too complex for @Altagram_GroupโฆThat shortcut, for some reason, only seems to work for executives' names. It's so weird! pic.twitter.com/MgISPQfoH5

@Altagram_Group has credited their CEO, COO, and CCO, but not a single person that actually did the hard work of translating the incredible story and dialogue of Baldur's Gate 3. It's disgusting, really.
Every other language has credited their teams — why not BPO? pic.twitter.com/V1UhCYdNjT— Katrina Leonoudakis ๐ #TranslatorsInTheCredits (@katrinaltrnsl8r) August 8, 2023
I guarantee that this is, once again, 100% on @Altagram_Group . @larianstudios likely asked them for their credits, Altagram gave them their 'full credits', intentionally omitting translators, and Larian trusted them without checking.
After all, who doesn't credit their writers?— Katrina Leonoudakis ๐ #TranslatorsInTheCredits (@katrinaltrnsl8r) August 8, 2023
