This is despite a drop in profits and revenue in 2018.

Cyberpunk 2077

After revealing in its annual financial report that profits and revenue for 2018 were down, CD Projekt announced that it would be creating 250 new jobs in the future. CFO Piotr Nielubowicz said that a plot had been acquired last year which would provide 3,000 square meters of office space. According to Games Industry, Nielubowicz stated, “That’s likely less than half the current seating of our company, so we will probably be able to provide 250 new jobs for CD Projekt Red and GOG.”

Revenue dropped to €85 million in 2018 versus €109.1 million in 2017 for the company. Meanwhile, profits dropped to €25.6 million from 2017’s €47.1 million. Digital sales for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which continues to bring in revenue for the company with €25 million earned in 2018, were about 80 percent.

Research and development spending for last year came in at around €56.4 million and president Adam Kiciński said the period was the “most intensive period in the group’s history.”

“Over the past year we greatly expanded our creative potential, both in Warsaw and at the Kraków studio,” he said. “We were also joined by a highly talented team from Wrocław, as well as by developers from Spokko – a newly established company currently working on a yet unannounced project targeting mobile devices.”

CD Projekt RED has a busy period ahead, thanks to the development of Cyberpunk 2077 and an unannounced AAA title. Both games will be out before 2021 though, and the developer teased E3 2019 being its “most important show ever”. Stay tuned for more details as E3 approaches.
