As things stand right now, releasing Cyberpunk 2077 on current-gen systems is the studio's aim.

In spite of the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is still in the earlier stages of development, CD Projekt RED have stated in no uncertain terms that they’re looking to launch the game on current-gen platforms. However, in case there was still any doubt over whether that might actually happen, the studio has re-iterated that statement yet again.

CD Projekt RED was asked on Twitter whether they would be launching the game on current-gen platforms, to which the official Cyberpunk 2077 page responded with a plain and simple “That is the plan”.

I get the skepticism though. Among many other things, the ambitions CD Projekt RED have for their setting of Night City have been one of the things that lead people to believe that the game may not be possible on the PS4 and Xbox One. The studio, however, remains confident that it can be done.

Speaking of Night City, a user on Reddit has put up an image of a chat they had with Cyberpunk 2077’s official Facebook page, asking whether choosing to play as a homicidal maniac would have an impact on the total population of the city (a figure that was displayed as 12 million in the gameplay demo we saw earlier). However, as per CDPR, it’s still too soon to say anything about that.

Next gen or no, a release date for the game hasn’t been confirmed either way. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.
