In spite of all the commercial success the game has enjoyedCyberpunk 2077 has suffered a rocky launch. The game launched in a very unpolished state, and its PS4 and Xbox One versions in particular have been criticized for their litany of issues, many of which have made the game nearly unplayable for many players- to the extent that a lot of people have been requesting refunds for their purchases. As you might expect, that’s led to some bad press for CD Projekt RED, in addition to their stocks tumbling, and the company deciding not to link internal bonus payouts to Metacritic score.

Now, the developer has taken to Twitter to address some of these biggest issues. In a message recently posted by the CD Projekt RED leadership, the developer apologized for not having shown any footage of the game on base PS4 and Xbox One hardware prior to launch, which is something they have been criticized for quite frequently over the last few days.

CD Projekt RED promises that it’s working on updates to fix the game. The first of these will arrive in January, with the second coming in February. CDPR says that these should fix most of the more prominent issues players have faced up till this point. Meanwhile, updates for the PC version will also continue to be released.

“Together these should fix the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles,” the developer wrote. “We will be informing you about the contents of each patch ahead of their release. They won’t make the game on last-gen look like it’s running on high-spec PC or next-gen consoles, but it will be closer to that experience than it is now.”

The developer also adds that those who are unsatisfied with the product they have received can ask for refunds from their retailers or from Xbox Live and PSN. If that doesn’t pan out, you can contact CD Projekt RED directly (until December 21).

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. Dedicated next-gen ports will arrive in 2021.
