CD Projekt RED's Adam Kicinski does note that expansions and multiplayer are still a ways off.

Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED made the somewhat expected announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 being delayed again. This was done for the sake of overall polish since, from a content and gameplay POV, the game is pretty much done. But what does this mean for the release of multiplayer and future expansions?

In a recent conference call, joint CEO and president Adam Kicinski said that the delay for Cyberpunk 2077 would of course mean that any expansions and multiplayer would be pushed back as well. “We haven’t specifically mentioned the number of DLCs — we prefer to call them expansions as the bigger than the typical DLCs — but of course, the fact that the launch of Cyberpunk has been moved will in proportion move the release of such potential expansions. We have not actually made any specific announcements on when that is planned, but since these are actually being developed—these are not any carved out pieces we keep in the drawer, so to say—they have to be made, they will happen later.”

“Now when it comes to the multiplayer expansion, its launch is going to be proportionally delayed as well. Although multiplayer is bit more distant anyway, so that’s that’s a bit of a thing of the future anyway.”

Again, it’s nothing too unexpected. Currently, the development team is prepping for Night City Wire on June 25th where it will presumably share more gameplay footage. After that will be previews from various publications who have had the chance to go hands-on with the game this week. Either way, expect tons of new information on Cyberpunk 2077 next week.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently slated to release on November 19th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. CD Projekt RED is planning to release proper next-gen versions in 2021 but it will look better on PS5 and Xbox Series X from day one. Anyone who purchases the game on PS4 and Xbox One will also receive a free upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
