Cyberpunk 2077 Was Targeting 2019 Release, Developers Felt It Was Unrealistic – Report

First half of 2020 seems likely.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of hype around it, so understandably, the question of when it finally launches is one that a lot of people have been asking. Recently, Jason Schreier of Kotaku claimed that the game was “absolutely not” coming out in 2019, and now, taking to Twitter, he’s elaborated on that comment a little further.

Schreier says that he’s heard from three sources that CD Projekt RED were originally aiming for a 2019 launch, but the development team felt that it was an unrealistic target. As such, the targeted release date has been pushed back to the first half of 2020, though Schreier says that CD Projekt RED may make an announcement for a 2019 release at E3, but delay it to 2020 eventually anyway.

CD Projekt RED themselves have remained unwilling to talk about a release date (even as reports about troubled development have started to emerge). We do know that the game’s going to be at E3 in a big way this year, and that we’ll also be seeing new gameplay, so let’s hope we hear about a concrete release date as well (and one that isn’t a pre-meditated delay, as Schreier suggests)
