No, SIE Santa Monica hasn’t provided a release date for God of War Ragnarok (though it’s reportedly still coming this year). However, in celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Sony has detailed all of the accessibility features coming to the action-adventure title. There are over 60 in total, with many – like Auto Sprint, Always on Reticle, Aim Style, Block Style and so on – being carried over from God of War (2018)’s PC version.

Improvements are also being made to subtitle and caption size with new scaling and an extra-large text size option. Subtitle and caption colors can also be adjusted on the basis of who’s speaking with seven colors to choose from. Speaker Names can now be hidden or shown independent of the UI text size. Newer features include subtitle and caption background blur; a direction indicator that tells you where certain sounds are coming from (which helps with puzzles that use sound cues); and icon size to go with text size.

Assist features include Navigation Assist which orients your camera to the next compass objective and Travel Assistance which automates vaulting, jumping, mantling and more based on the direction pressed. Controller remapping has also been revamped to offer a number of preset layouts, alternate configurations for complex actions, and touch pad shortcuts for Navigation Assist, Quick Turn and Spartan Rage.

If that weren’t enough, there’s also High Contrast Mode for applying colors to in-game objects, enemies and characters to make them more visible against the background (with the option to desaturate the background as well). Check out the images below to see some of the features in action.

God of War Ragnarok is currently in development for PS4 and PS5. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
