Metaphor ReFantazio

We’ve been treated to no shortage of major reveals and updates for games over the last few weeks, and one in particular that has generated quite a bit of buzz is Metaphor: ReFantazio. Coming from the creative leads of Persona 3, 4, and 5, the epic high fantasy RPG is being positioned as Atlus’ next big property, and fans of the Japanese developer are suitably excited.

Of course, the wait to get to this point has been a long one, with the game first having been announced as Project Re Fantasy all the way back in 2017. Atlus has, however, said that the fantasy RPG is scheduled to launch sometime in 2024- though how likely is it that it will manage to hit that window?

According to director Katsura Hashino, it’s quite likely. In a recent interview uploaded by Atlus, after speaking about the game’s story and setting, as well as how it blends its fantasy setting with a modern aesthetic, Hashino also provided a brief update on the game’s development, confirming that the development team at Studio Zero is currently in the process of polishing the title.

“As we continue to polish the game, we’ll continue to reveal new information,” Hashino said. “Please look forward to hearing more from us.”

That is, of course, quite a brief development update, though given the fact that Studio Zero has moved into the stage of development where it’s focused on polishing the experience, one would imagine that the bulk of the development cycle has been taken care of. Hopefully that means the game will indeed be able to launch in 2024 as intended.

When it does, Metaphor: ReFantazio will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
