NetherRealm Studios has been knocking it out of the park with all of the Mortal Kombat 1 trailers it has put out so far, and that continues with its newest one. EVO week has brought with it plenty of new updates on some of the biggest upcoming fighters, and with a new trailer, NetherRealm, too, has confirmed three more characters for Mortal Kombat 1’s roster.

Reptile (a.k.a. Syzoth), a long-time fan-favourite, returns, and much like many others, he’s going to be portrayed rather uniquely in this new universe. As a shapeshifter, he can now swap back and forth between his natural, reptilian form and his human form at will, while he also has the ability to spew a deadly, flesh-consuming acid on his enemies. His abilities as a shapeshifter have, incidentally, also landed him in hot water with his tribe in Outworld.

Then there’s Ashrah, who was first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Deception. She makes her return in Mortal Kombat 1 as a demon from the Netherrealm who has given up her evil ways and purged her heart of evil. Now ousted by her once-fellow sisters, she seeks absolution and looks to fight on the side of the good guys (or at least that’s what the trailer makes it look like).

Finally, there’s Havik, another fellow Deception debutant, who takes the cake in this trailer where sheer brutality is concerned, on account of the fact that he can literally rip off his regenerating arm and bash people’s heads in with it. An anarchist rebel from the oppressive realm of Seido, he’s intent on taking down the regime that rules his world.

Check out the trailer below, which also confirms Sareena as a Kameo Fighter.

Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A closed beta is set for August 18-21.
