Bethesda Game Studios has a good track record of supporting its games with post-launch DLCs and expansions and the studio has already confirmed at least one story expansion for the upcoming space-faring title StarfieldBut given how massive the space-faring RPG is set to be, how extensive can we expect its post-launch support to be beyond that first DLC?

Director Todd Howard was recently posed the question in an interview with IGN, where he confirmed that Bethesda Game Studios has plans to do “a lot of add-on content” for the game. Its post-launch DLC will be “of varying sizes”, with the development team looking to add new features, stories, and more to the game following is release.

“We’re gonna be doing a lot of add-on content for Starfield,” Howard said. “We love doing it, our fans love it. We’ve already announced the first one, we’re gonna do a story expansion pack that’s gonna be coming. We have plans to do things of varying sizes, and we’ve done a lot of that in our previous games. It’s something that we really like doing [and] our fans like, so despite the size of the game, there’s still things we want to add, as far as features in the future, stories, and things like that. So we think this is a game that’s hopefully going to continue for a long time that way.”

Of course, the base game itself is still a few months away, so concrete details on what Starfield’s post-launch roadmap will look like aren’t currently clear. Presumably, those plans will be made clearer in the weeks and months ahead, so stay tuned for more updates.

Starfield launches on September 6 for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
