It doesn’t look like Microsoft is keen on a mid-generation refresh for the Xbox Series X/S. Speaking with Bloomberg, Xbox boss Phil Spencer stated that the company doesn’t think that a new Xbox Series X with more powerful hardware is currently needed.

“That’s not the feedback we’re getting right now,” said Spencer, speaking about a potentially-upgraded version of an Xbox Series X. “Right now, we’re pretty set on the hardware we have.”

It is worth noting that, despite Spencer’s statement, the company has announced a refresh of sorts for the Xbox Series S. However, the new version of the console doesn’t really feature hardware any more powerful than the predecessor, and is instead focused on providing players with an option for larger storage capacity, coming out of the box with a 1TB SSD.

The new Xbox Series S was unveiled at the end of the Xbox Games Showcase that took place over the weekend, and is available in a new carbon black colour. The console also includes the same software features as its 512GB counterpart.

The new Xbox Series S is slated to hit worldwide store shelves on September 1, and pre-orders are currently available for the console on the official website, depending on your region.
