With its upcoming expansion Phantom Liberty, it’s looking like Cyberpunk 2077 will finally make good on the lofty promises that it failed to live up to with its base launch, with all of its showings having impressed so far, not least because of the expansion’s overhauled progression mechanics, vehicular combat, police system, and much more.

After recently having shown off the expansion again at Gamescom Opening Night Live, CD Projekt RED also provided more elaborate details on what players can expect from it in a new stream. Multiple members of the development team sat down to go over the biggest talking points, and in the process confirmed several new details.

In addition to diving further into the nitty-gritties of Phantom Liberty’s revamped perks system and its improvements to the police system and vehicular combat, CDPR has also revealed other details, like the fact that the expansion will be set in the middle of the base game’s events, though those who haven’t played the base game itself or don’t have access to their old saves will be able to create a new character that skips ahead to Phantom Liberty.

New details and brief gameplay footage have also been revealed on the Relic Tree, as well as Dogtown, the new district of Night City that will become accessible in the expansion, while the devs have also reiterated that many of Phantom Liberty’s biggest gameplay overhauls will also be coming to the base game for free (but not on last-gen consoles) with update 2.0. You can view the full stream below for more details.
